The history of the company
The history of the company began with the creation of CJSC Myronivsky Hliboproduct in 1998. It was the initiative of Mr. Yuriy Kosyuk, Chairman of the Board of Myronivsky Hliboproduct. Also in 1998, Joint Stock Company Myronivsky Hliboproduct obtained controlling share in OJSC Myronivsky factory for the manufacturing of feeds and cereals’ (MFC).
MFC was created as a result of the groats manufacturing plant privatization. It became the first important industrial member of the Myronivsky Hliboproduct group, having made the company one of the leading domestic grain trading enterprises in Ukraine in 1999—2000.
From the moment of company’s foundation, one of its specializations was chicken meat manufacturing that was started within the industrial capacity of SE Peremoga Nova.
The year 2000 was a turning point for Ukrainian poultry farming. For the first time after a nine-year period of recession there was growth in the amount of chicken meat manufactured. Myronivsky Hliboproduct stopped its activity as a grain trader in 2001, and concentrated on poultry meat manufacturing with the gradual integration of all production processes within the company’s capacity.
The scope of activity of Myronivsky Hliboproduct was considerably expanded between 1999—2001 due to the purchase and foundation of Ukrainian companies which are functioning in different segments of industrial chicken meat manufacturing. The CJSC Druzhba Narodiv Nova and Oril—Leader poultry farms joined the group of enterprises during this period.
The capacity of two breeding poultry farms (LLC Starynska Ptahofabryka and LLC Shahtarska Nova) were joined to Myronivsky Hliboproduct creating a fully integrated complex.
Thanks to its investment into reconstruction, Myronivsky Hliboproduct has restored, modernized and put into operation the industrial capacity of many of its companies. Since 2001 all integrated poultry farms of Myronivsky Hliboproduct have been supplied with modern equipment, unified technology for poultry breeding has been implemented, and a unified quality standard has been applied.
In the beginning of 2002 Myronivsky Hliboproduct started an investment project to expand the capacities of all integrated poultry farms. The project was intended to double the finished production amount.
For the sale of fresh chicken meat, Myronivsky Hliboproduct created the Nasha Ryaba trade mark in December, 2001. This product appeared in the market in February, 2002. In a year a franchise program for Nasha Ryaba TM was implemented. About 900 proprietary points of sale of Myronivsky Hliboproduct in all regions of Ukraine were opened by the end of 2003. The points of sale were for Myronivsky Hliboproduct’s fresh chicken meat trade under Nasha Ryaba TM exclusively.
Myronivsky Hliboproduct got loan in the amount of $30 million US dollars from the IFC for expansion and modernization in December, 2003.
A second loan in the amount of $60 million, was concluded in May. These funds were directed into investment projects to finance expanding the capacity of poultry farming of new objects.
A significant landmark in the company’s history was 2003 because the industrial capacity that was created enabled the enterprises to have an integrated complex with a closed cycle of meat manufacturing. That gave them complete control over product quality and price.
In particular, due to manufacturing their own mixed fodder, Myronivsky Hliboproduct has been constantly increasing its economic independence. Because mixed fodder represents a significant share in the product cost, the company tried to reduce the costs of this aspect. An important stage in this direction was when, in 2004, Myronivsky Hliboproduct began operating a sunflower seeds plant, which was MFC’s property at that time.
The plant was constructed in order to obtain a protein that is abundant in sunflower oilcakes. This meant they no longer needed to import this element, thereby reducing the cost of mixed fodder.
LLC Tavriysky Fodder Mill, which has the industrial capacity of 220 thousand tonnes of mixed fodder per year, joined Myronivsky Hliboproduct in December, 2004. LLC Zernoproduct’s industrial capacity was created by Myronivsky Hliboproduct and its modernization commenced in 2005. LLC Zernoproduct specializes in corn, wheat, barley and sunflower cultivation. Additionally, Myronivsky Hliboproduct acquired LLC Katerinopylsky Elevator for grain storage. The construction of a mixed fodder factory had already been started at this enterprise.
During the last few years Myronivsky Hliboproduct has launched several enterprise initiatives that were designed to diversify the company’s activity. In particular, CJSC Ptahofabryka Snyatynska Nova and LLC Agrofirma Kyivska were opened. The first farm specializes in goose liver and goose meat manufacturing, the second one in potato, wheat, rye and corn cultivation and thoroughbred pedigree cattle breeding.
Agricultural LLC Druzhba Narodiv, a complex project of premium beef manufacture as well as pork and sausage products, was opened in 2003. As a result, new trade marks appeared in the market in 2004, namely: “Certified Angus” TM (an elite beef), and “Foie Gras” TM (goose meat and liver). In addition, in 2006 Myronivsky Hliboproduct began fruit cultivating and selling after it acquired LLC “Druzhba Narodiv Fruit”.
The construction of Myronivsky’s convenience products plant was completed on the territory of MFC in January, 2006. The factory is the largest domestic enterprise that specializes in convenience meat products that have been released under “Lehko” TM since January, 2006.
